Hello

I was brought up in  Australia but have resided in the UK for over thirty years. Most of this time was spent living in East London before moving to the wilds of the Derbyshire peak district where I live with my wife and two children.

My background is in fine art and I studied painting and printmaking at the University of East London where I gained my first degree. I then took my Masters at Wimbledon School of Art where I studied Fine Art Printmaking. At both  of these institutions I found myself spending a lot of time in the darkroom prepping images for the photo based printmaking processes I was experimenting with at the time.

When I gained a teaching qualification - from the University of Wales -  and became an art teacher in East London I was asked to specialise in photography. My teaching practice then just sort of grew up alongside the digital revolution happening in the early 2000s.  As I encouraged my students to create ever more innovative outcomes - with the editing tools that were becoming increasingly widely available - including both still and moving images, I developed an interest myself and started making music videos for friends as well as taking on small freelance photographic and design jobs.

I am now looking to expand this practice and have put together the pages on this site to hopefully give a true picture of of my varied skill-set and interests. I am also happy to run workshops and facilitate projects with young people.
